I am an engaged academic, policy analyst and adviser in the field of science, technology and innovation management and policy. I served as Associate Dean for Business Engagement for the Faculty of Humanities (2015-20) and was a visiting Professor at Sciences Po, Paris (2015-2021). My research, teaching and consulting interests focus on corporate technology strategy, innovation management and science, technology and innovation policy. I have engaged in research, consultancy and executive education with companies from a diverse range of sectors including chemicals, industrial electronics, pharmaceuticals and legal services but my particular focus is on the aerospace, defence and security sectors. I am the author or co-author of more than fifty academic journal publications, book chapters and public domain reports. My current research and consultancy is focused on:* Organisational and behavioural factors in the adoption of digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence;* The geopolitics of supply chains, supply chain resilience and supply chain mapping and UK-China research and technology relationships;* Public procurement and innovation, especially in the defence and security sectors.I teach innovation management and strategy on undergraduate, Masters, MBA and executive education programmes. I am programme director for Alliance Manchester Business School's MSc in Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship. I deliver executive education courses on Innovation, Digitalisation & AI and The Management of Intellectual Property.I have a long track record of engagement with government and private sector. My research, consultancy and executive education clients have included Airbus, GE Healthcare, Petronas, Rolls-Royce and Unilever as well as the UK and Swedish governments, DSTL, FOI, the European Commission and EDA.
