• Developed a Windows C++ application using Microsoft Visual Studio for the purpose of telemedicine conferences between doctors and patients.• Implemented handling various input video formats and aspect ratios and transfer the video across the internet to be played back on the receiving side at the receiving side's screen aspect ratio.• Integrated a third party C# dll for streaming audio to and from a stethoscope.• Developed an iOS application using XCode for the patient side of the telemedicine conference.• Implemented receiving VoIP calls while in the foreground and background.• Development process involved using Perforce for version control and FogBugz for bug tracking.

• Developed a new desktop application called Evidence SYNC written in C++ using the Qt development framework. This replaced an older end-of-life application that had limited functionality. The application became the main ingestion point for customers uploading evidence to TASER's website.• Some of the features of this desktop application were generation and viewing of device log PDFs, multiple TASER device support, transferring videos from a device to the desktop, and modifying device settings. The application has multiple modes that allow different functionality to be accessible when in online versus offline mode.• Had the idea for and implemented use of the Google Translate API to provide support for multiple languages in the desktop application.• Was singled out and received an award for outstanding work on the Evidence SYNC application. The award was announced at an all-company meeting and I was presented with an iPad mini.• Initial project at TASER in C++ was to work on a new way to do video streaming. The existing video playback was extremely slow and customers were frustrated. I implemented video transcoding on the fly of chunks of data, thereby having smaller, compressed data to transfer. This resulted in a huge speedup and eliminated all delay during playback. This also resulted in much faster seeking within the video.• Development process involved using Git for version control and JIRA for bug tracking. I recognized the need and took the initiative to develop a Bash script for keeping submodules consistent when switching between branches. This became a key script for engineering productivity avoiding failed pushes.• Participated in a hackathon in San Francisco sponsored by TASER. I was part of a team creating a website developed with Ruby on Rails, whose purpose was to improve the way anonymous tips could be received by the police. We had a fully functioning website by the end of the competition that was a great improvement upon the existing form.

• Implemented and tested multi-carrier routing feature. Original software was designed to terminate to only one telecommunications carrier. The changes consisted of designing new tables and modifying existing ones in the SQL Server database, along with writing new stored procedures to read/write the data in the tables. I also designed and implemented the ASP/JavaScript and HTML pages for Toktumi's web-based administration tool for configuring the new multi-carrier routing solution. Finally I implemented the C++ code for reading in the new multi-carrier routing data from the database and using the data to make the proper selection when calls are placed. The result of implementing this feature allowed Toktumi to reduce their carrier costs.• Toktumi had an existing automated call tester for its proprietary VoIP solution. I added a Windows GUI front end to make it easy to configure and run. I also made changes to the call tester so that it could place multiple calls at the same time rather than a single call, employing multi-threading to accomplish this. The tool was then used to resolve a critical crash in Toktumi's server software.• Implemented a similar project for a 2nd call tester, this one using SIP (Session Initiation Protocol). I made both call testers flexible so that each could be set up as a call originator, call receiver, or perform both ends of a call.• Created a call tester to run on Android. Designed the GUI and implemented the code in Java. Used the Android NDK to pass data between Java and C++. Development was done using the Eclipse IDE.• Wrote Microsoft Word documents detailing how the call testers worked, how to set them up, and what log files they produced so that the QA group could use the tools and examine the test results. I was highly praised for the ease of use of the tools and for the clarity of the documentation.
