I am an avid world traveler with a keen interest in connecting with and understanding people and their cultures. I was drawn to becoming a software engineer for technologies ability to connect people from around the world in ways that were never dreamed possible before. During my travels I have used creative applications that have enhanced cultural connections in ways that otherwise would have been impossible. My aspiration in the software development community is to create and maintain applications that bring us all together in new ways, foster understanding and empathy, and create better access and representation of information. Specifically, I would use my education as a front-end software engineer with skills in JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and UI/UX to work towards that mission.

Turing is an intense, 1700 hour, full-time software development program. The program focuses on project-based learning with an emphasis on paired/group collaboration in order to build the skills most needed for a junior developer in the field right now. These skills were developed by working on applications where we had to design our product, create the user interface, and complete all of the programming and testing within 7 days or less. Throughout the development process we were expected to adhere to best practices in regards to atomic git commits and performing code reviews before merging our work to Github. There was a strong focus on self learning and implementing new technologies within our applications as well.Technologies Learned and Implemented:React.js | JavaScript | CSS | Sass | HTML | Cypress | Mocha | Chai | npm | Express | git | Github | Webpack | GraphQL | TypeScript
