Andrew founded Freestone Capital in September 2008. Freestone specialised in start-up and special opportunity investments. Freestone Capital helped found, invest in, raise capital for or sell a number of companies across diverse sectors including aged care, debtor and trade finance, asset-backed securities, manufacturing and oil & gas as well as the core research that led to the founding of Guardian.

Andrew worked in a role identifying and evaluating traditional and alternative funding opportunities for small to medium unlisted and listed business.Such opportunities included straight equity, convertible structures and hybrid securities.

This role involved jointly establishing a European office for Goldman Sachs JBWere to have an on-ground presence for Australian equity sales. Major clients ranged across Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

This role included servicing the JBWere client base with clients across United Kingdom and Europe. The research sales role involved providing global investment funds based in the UK and Europe with advice and deal capability for Australian equities.

Specialised in Australian listed equities on the Melbourne desk of JBWere. This role involved servicing Australian institutional equity investors providing market and company advice and access to JBWere capabilities.

Fixed interest dealer specialising in Government, Semi-Government and Corporate bonds and synthetic securities such as options and futures. This role led to the establishment of a hybrid securities desk focused on securitisation of residential mortgages and the growth of a new asset class in Australia. Operations expanded to include hybrid securities such as convertible notes, preference shares and related securities.
