I thrive on the challenges in my role and seeking creative and constructive solutions by active listening, constructive feedback, and relationships built upon respect.My career path has been unconventional. I lived for 12 years in the US where I worked in retail and learned valuable skills in teamwork and communication. Upon returning to Scotland I committed myself to completing my much delayed degree and I'm incredibly proud to have earned an honours degree in Environmental Studies from the Open University.A Civil Service career is not something I ever imagined for myself, too many stereotypes of and bureaucracy and automated office workers in grey brutalist buildings. In reality I love my job, my employer and my colleagues. I'm actively encouraged to experiment and let my naturally curious nature flourish!A fair and transparent Civil Service has never been more important and I ingrain these qualities in all that I do. Knowing that my work directly benefits the people of Scotland, and further afield, is incredibly rewarding.
