I worked on a number of fast-paced policy projects, developing a potential UK alternative to European Research Council funding during the EU exit negotiations, working on international research collaboration opportunities with Ireland and Norway and finally standing up an alternative research funding system which would provide support to UK researchers who had applied to Horizon Europe but could not be funded due to delays in the UK's association.

I looked after a portfolio of UK universities, dealing with their queries on how to correctly apply for EU funding and administrate the funding they already received. I also worked closely with DG RTD of the European Commission to stay up-to-date on funding guidance and feed back the comments and concerns of UK stakeholders. I also acted as the National Contact Point for the European Research Council, advising UK applicants on how to apply and maximise their chance of success for this prestigious scheme.

I looked after the EPSRC research portfolio in energy storage, hydrogen and fuel cells. I engaged with stakeholders, set calls, processed grants, arranged peer review and awarded funding to the successful projects. I also worked on a number of cross-team projects, including a renewal of the UK Supergen Centres.

I planned and carried out a research project looking at how polyoxometalate clusters could be functionalised with organic moieties to form hybrid clusters, specifically looking at new ways of separating and isolating asymmetric hybrids and using those asymmetric hybrids to form predictable and programmable polyoxometalate oligomers.
