My role is to work with residents of the Local Authority to resolve any issues or problems and assist where required with interactions with the officers. I also sat as an Executive member (2019-2021) to help set policy and monitor operations within the Leisure and Open Spaces service delivery. I give a steer to the officers on the political policy making and notify issues with that service to the other elected members. I also work closely with local Parish Councillors in my ward, community groups and volunteers across a range of areas of local support.

Welfare to Work Delivery supporting Benefits Claimants into sustained employment. Worked with Long Term Unemployed and 'Hardest to Help' groups. Led teams delivering individualised support to participants.Brought in to turnaround a failing contract operating at less than 20% of its contracted performance within a wider DWP awarded contract for Berkshiire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire. In declining economic conditions the office went from an 'at risk' rating to a top performing office within the South region, performing at over 90% of contract expectation. During the turnaround, I sucessfully developed a new team, moved the location to a larger, better equipped location and improved relationships with stakeholders including support groups, other providers and Job Centre Managers. Initial preparations were developed for the Work Programme as part of a planned pilot (PEP).Asked to take on a second failing contract operating at just 5% of contracted terms and at risk of funding reclaims from the funding bodies. This contract was delivering employment support to what is termed the 'Hardest to Help' group and provided services to participants with a broad range of issues. These included homelessness, mental and physical health barriers, substance abuse etc. Over a period of 12 months, I brough this operation up to 55% of contracted expectation by the sharehlders, retained the funding, passed 3 audits including one by the Council of Auditors of the EU.Performance improvements within both contracts saw approximately 1200 Long Term Unemployed with a wide range of barriers assisted into work, with thousands more moved closer to the employment market. Staff from the two contracts were transfered into the new contracts, with a signifiicant number progressing via coaching and development to managment roles both within the company and externally. Both contracts were losing money when taken on and both turned into contributors to the regional and national business.
