In 2016, the CNWL Charity was used as a banking service for donations, and paying out small grants. I was the first employee and set about introducing a raft of policies and procedures to put the charity on a professional basis. We used the charities grant giving programme to raise the profile of the charity, and build engagement with staff and patients of the Trust. We used the charities grant giving programme to raise the profile of the charity, and build engagement with staff and patients of the Trust. This was a challenge as an individual trying to reach across 150 sites across south East England.The COVID Pandemic was a game changer, with the public donating £150m to NHS Charities Together, and grants being made to individual NHS Charities. This brought in significant sums to the charity, and awareness of the potential the charity was capable of delivering for the Trust was raised with Trustees. This led to a strategic review which I led, and the appointment of a Development Director, and subsequently three fundraising posts.I now lead on the charities Finance, Governance, and Grants programme Show less

A project has been initiated to review the existing use, and contractural arrangements the Trust has with Acute Proders for Imaging services - as a means of streamlining and reducing the cost of these services.

A project was initiated to review current provision of Pharmacy and pathology services in light of the demand by commissioners to increase service quality and reduce in year, and with awareness of the a new commissioning environment from April 2017 driven by the Pan London SH Transformation project. Following the restructuring of the CNWL Charitable Funds, a project has been initiated to review the assets of nthe charit, and identify whether an opportunity exists to invest the reserves of the charity as a means of generating Revenue/ Capital to put towards delivering the objects of the charity. The outcome of this review will be a revised investment strategy, which can be used as the basis of an agreement with professional investment managers.

It required interviewing Senior staff to identify direction of travel, Commissioning a service wide series of focus groups, and setting up and running a one day service wide awayday to discuss the outcomes and agree what the next steps in the process would be. I brought back in house an outsourced Finance Function, which required training staff, setting up financial controls, sourcing and implementing an appropriate ledger, sourcing and implementing a replacement IT system for the UK, developing financial reports, training staff and trustees and the new systems and reports, and negotiating and project managing the transfer of the finance function from the outsourced company to the charity.
