I joined Barclays as the Group Financial Reporting Director with primary responsibility for the Group external financial disclosures. The role and responsibilities have grown as the finance function was reorganised and have included:• Accountability for the delivery and quality of UK and US quarterly results financial close process, external reporting and Annual Report. The Group has c1,500 reporting entities across the globe.• Ownership of the Group consolidation process and reporting systems (Hyperion and SAP).• Reporting of key accounting and disclosure matters to the Board Audit Committee.• Chairman of the Legal and Technical Committee with responsibility for ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.• Accountability for Group SOx and Financial Reporting Operational Risk reporting, including ownership of Group Financial Reporting Control framework and Operating Risk control policy. Reported on control issues and remediation to the Board Audit Committee.• Group owner for relationship with the external auditor, including management of c£40m audit fee.• Internal balance sheet reporting for the Group, Investment Bank and Corporate Bank, with monthly production and CFO presentation of review packs.• Have led teams of up to 60 in delivery of the above across 3 locations (London, Chennai and Noida). Responsibility for headcount management, recruitment, personal development and team cost management. • Barclays representative on the British Banking Disclosure Working Group with a remit to improve industry wide disclosure.

Key assurance clients include a large UK retail bank, FTSE listed financial derivatives trader, international credit card provider and a dual listed specialist banking and asset management group. Led a number of advisory projects with a focus on credit impairment models and accounting and implementation of new accounting standards. People champion for the group with responsibilities for recruitment, bi-annual appraisals, promotion assessment, disciplinary procedures, creation and monitoring of poor performer development plans and communication and implementation of E&Y wide people policies / initiatives.
