Hello! I'm a graduate student in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Garrett at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Alongside my research, I serve as an Adjunct Professor in the Chemistry Department at Belhaven University, where I teach general chemistry labs. This opportunity complements my research, allowing me to develop my communication, leadership, and mentorship skills.Currently, I am investigating kidney development using next-generation sequencing techniques. Specifically, I'm exploring cell type-specific transcriptomic, proteomic, and epigenetic changes in the HSRA rat model to understand potential causes underlying unilateral renal agenesis (URA) and nephron deficit.I am proficient in analysis of RNA-seq, single-cell (sc)RNAseq, and reduced representation bisulfite sequencing (RRBS) data using tools like Seurat, Methylkit, and clusterProfiler in R. I also have experience in animal handling and cell culture. My current goals involve using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to model and examine genes implicated in kidney development and cellular differentiation.I plan to be a lifelong learner, regardless of the career path that I decide to take.
