I am a graduate biomedical engineering student at the Georgia Institute of Technology working in the Biomedical Systems Engineering Lab. I am passionate about biopharmaceutical development, and believe that the industry should be doing everything it can to help make medicines more accessible to everyone. One of the best ways to do this is by optimizing their manufacturing processes to save time and costs while increasing production volume.In my research, I apply multivariate analysis techniques to study the nutrient consumption and metabolite production patterns of cells that produce a monoclonal antibody. My observations are used to optimize the media composition and feeding strategies in fed-batch cultures to maintain a favorable metabolic state and increase culture longevity. This can also dramatically increase the amount of monoclonal antibody produced.I aspire to apply what I have learned in my studies to real-world, large-scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing applications. The future of monoclonal antibody therapeutics is exciting but expensive, and I believe in taking the steps necessary to change that.
