At Simidea R&D, primarily with the help of Matlab, I use analytical and numerical mathematical techniques to investigate the propagation of acoustic waves in fluids and elastic porous materials. This analysis allows us to obtain a better understanding of the macroscopic properties of the materials through which the waves propagate. Previously I worked for a short while as a research associate at the University of Glasgow. In this role I developed theoretical models that describe the industrially relevant problem of the flow and evaporation of thin rivulets of fluid. I also collaborated with a team of experimental researchers from Nottingham Trent University to compare my theoretical results to their experiments and found very close agreement.
