Reich lab is an academic research lab at UCSB focused on the methyltransferase class of proteins, specifically human de novo methyltransferase (DNMT). The lab studies its mechanism, structure, and function as well as collaborates with other labs to see its biological effects. - Responsible for transforming, expressing, and purifying both protein and DNA, and performing radiation based assays for their activity. - Participated in fluorescence based assays for analysis of protein-protein interactions via anisotropy. - Designed experiments for for analysis of protein and it’s activity- Selected by PI to lead an independent project to investigate our enzyme interactions with RNA- Mastered common experiment techniques such as SDS-PAGE, PCR, making and storing buffers/liquid media, centrifugations, bacterial culturing, chromatography on glass columns and FPLC machinery, sonication, French Press, and using computational tools such as chimera and snap gene. - Organized and analyzed experiment results and presented the data findings to research group and PI- Trained new undergrad and grad students in all lab related skills- Maintained, troubleshoot and fixed lab equipment and machinery

OncoPep is a new immuno-oncotherapy company that is treating cancer with peptide vaccines. - Researched current clinical trials and clinical trial parameters in the same field of immune oncotherapy via cancer vaccines. - Collected and analyzed findings, prepared weekly reports and presented them to COO.- Conducted research on leading global experts in the field of oncology working on cancer vaccines.- Researched scientific articles and conducted literature reviews on topics such as lipid nanoparticle drug delivery, and prepared research summaries for executive team.
