I work as an Interim Leader (CEO and Director roles) and as an Educational Leadership Consultant, supporting headteachers/principals, senior leadership teams and governors/trustees in schools and specialist FE colleges; with a particular focus on school turnaround. I have extensive experience of working with special schools, charities and multi-academy trusts, and also of working in the non-maintained and special school sectors.Prior to this I was Executive Headteacher at RNIB Pears Centre and RNIB Three Spires Academy (the latter was in 'special measures' when we took over and it rapidly achieved 'good' - in July 2015). In addition the role included responsibility for a further school, a specialist nursery and a specialist outreach service. I was also a Director of RNIB Specialist Learning Trust (a multi-academy trust and academy sponsor). I have been a school leader since 1997. As well as working in the maintained sector, I have also worked for ten years in the the non-maintained sector and for a number of charitable organisationsHead Teacher at RNIB Pears Centre (VI & Complex Needs), Coventry: an Outstanding special school (Ofsted, 2013) and the only non-maintained special school in England with Specialist Status for SEN (Learning & Cognition). RNIB Pears School had been judged to be Satisfactory by Ofsted, prior to taking over. Oaklands Special School in Leicester was in Special Measures, prior to my arrival. We came out of Special Measures in around 9 months. Oaklands was the first special school in the UK to adopt the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).I am also proud to be a Trustee for Concordia Charity, Brighton.
