The Fermilab Quantum NETwork (FQNET) aims to produce a fully functional quantum network based initially on optical fibers with the capability to distribute time-bin photonic quantum states (qubits) across various distances by employing an intrinsic property of a multi-qubit system: entanglement. I am a graduate student working in the SNSPD laboratory at JPL while pursuing a PhD in Applied Physics at Caltech. Superconducting Nanowire Single Photon Detectors (SNSPDs) are the leading single photon detectors in the infrared with high efficiency, low dark counts, and low timing jitter. They have applications in deep space optical communication, quantum networking, biomedical research, and astronomy.
