Researched into the process of discovering the Cosmic Dawn with the latest Square Kilometre Array (SKA) testbed, the Aperture Array Verification System 2 (AAVS 2) under Aaron Chippendale and Ravi Subrahmanyan. The main tasks and achievements of the project were:• Analysing data from the AAVS 2 and using Python to write filters from scratch to get it into a form to fit theoretical models of this unknown period in the universe • Successfully constraining the peak emission and absorption profiles of models with and without X-Ray heating. These obtained constraints were better than previous experiments and proved the SKA's validity to constrain models from the Cosmic Dawn and Epoch of Reionisation.To conclude the project, I had the privilege of presenting my work in a CSIRO Space and Astronomy Colearnium and had excellent discussion with the brilliant scientists who attended.

Grade: High DistinctionYearlong Engineering research thesis under Professor Nicole Kessissoglou. Specifically, I investigated and compared different control strategies in minimising the vibrational response and optimising the acoustic profile of a plate under harmonic excitation.The analytical models for each control method were compared to and verified using the numerical methods from COMSOL Multiphysics.

• Developed key documentation relating the integration of all UAV systems under the lead Mechatronics Engineer – including electronics, mechanical, avionics, and control systems• Creative insight used to develop means by which control problems related to electronic speed controllers, and avionics stack vibration damping could be solved• Performed significant research into UAV satellite (SATCOM) and ground (GCS) communication systems• Other skills exercised included test sequence script development, troubleshooting and testing of mechanical and electronic components, Arduino programming, 3D printing, CAM, CAD modelling in both Solidworks and Fusion360, and Carbon Fibre handling.
