Malta

Responsible for managing the digital assets generated by the Digitisation Department of Heritage Malta, including leading the implementation of the agency-wide CMS platform, TMS by Gallery Systems. As a member of the Digitisation Department team Andrew provides support for the digitisation of collection artefacts at the Malta Maritime Museum, enabled through an EU funded EEA Norway Grants programme between 2019–2023. Through this project he is developing and implementing data management and workflow policies within the Digitisation Department to ensure compliance with Spectrum 5.0 standards.

The Magna Żmien Foundation was set up as a grassroots movement in 2017, advocating for the digitisation and preservation of home audio-visual collections to form a community archive accessible to the general public, with a focus on providing content to local and international researchers and artists. Operating from the Valletta Design Cluster, this Malta-based NGO collaborates with creatives to produce exhibitions, installations, music, theatre and research projects that emerge from this unique material.

Providing web development for True Echoes, a British Library and Leverhulme Trust project to reconnect Oceanic cultures with anthropological wax cylinder recordings that date from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Visiting lecturer on the PGCert Digital Curation course. Topics covered within the 'Tools for Digital Curation' lectures include the theoretical and technical challenges facing audio-visual archivists, toolkits and standards for digital preservation, open frameworks for sharing media content, and online digital preservation platforms that encourage collaboration, online community archiving and community curation.

Valletta, Malta

Managing the day to day running of the digital services of Spazju Kreattiv, a programme of creative arts and culture events. The role involves managing the website, email system, the archival data relating to historical events, and the physical art collection which forms part of the national collection. Implemented Priava, a CRM and event management software solution.

With the Magnetic Tape Alert Project, the Information for All Programme (IFAP) of UNESCO, in cooperation with IASA, the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives, intends to alert stakeholders of the imminent threat of losing access to their audiovisual documents.

Catalogued and researched the Peter Kennedy collection of traditional music and customs from the UK and Ireland, including audio recordings, images and manuscript artefacts. A significant output of the research included developing a website, in collaboration with City University London and the British Library, supported by the AHRC Cultural Engagement Fund.
