Andrew Pankhurst has over 15 years’ experience within the ecology sector and during this time has been part of the senior management team which has overseen the growth of SES into an industry leading multi-disciplinary consultancy. Andrew has a strong background in strategic land and large-scale development, with a passion for place making and the vision that development and nature are not mutually exclusive. This passion has resulted in the delivery of nationally significant schemes, with experience working through all stages of planning including land promotion, site allocation, planning consents, condition / s106 work, on the ground delivery through the construction phase and monitoring works.Projects of note include the award winning Kingsbrook development in Aylesbury which is also noted as Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) best practice case study due to its ecological credentials whilst still delivering much needed housing. This scheme is also recognised by the RSPB as an ecological exemplar and a blueprint for future developments. Andrew’s team have and continue to deliver the ecological mitigation habitats at Kingsbrook including but not limited to species rich grasslands, ponds, hedgerows and a black polar clone bank for wildlife and residents alike to enjoy. Other projects include Dunton Hills Garden Village in Basildon (c.4000 units) which was granted consent in late 2023. Andrew’s team worked from 2016 to deliver ecology and arboriculture including the masterplanning process, stakeholder engagement and technical work to support a planning application. His passion for place making and holistic solutions has seen Andrew lead SES’s habitat creation team enabling him to provide expert technical ecological advice coupled with experience in pragmatic onsite delivery of various habitats. This experience has been molded with the advent of BNG and enabled Andrew to deliver advice to developers, landowners and stakeholders on all things BNG.
