Andrew is currently working as part of the UK Exploration team based in London. Responsible for the maturation and development of exploration projects in the UK and Norway (with particular focus on the UK Central North Sea) he has deepened his geoscience and project delivery skillsets in a world renowned, mature basin. Additionally, Andrew has developed extensive experience in Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS), leading opportunity assessments across Europe and providing critical insights to stakeholders and decision-makers in preparation for licensing rounds.

Andrew joined the London based Portfolio & New Business team within the Exploration department of Shell. Working within the Play Evaluation team Andrew helped assess the prospectivity of various opportunities across the world. The role required a wide spectrum of geoscience skills from Play Based Evaluation (PBE) led assessments of new basins, to detailed well interpretation, to prospect identification, evaluation and risking. Andrew’s work covered areas including West Africa, Egypt, France, Turkey, South Africa, Red Sea, Uruguay, India, UK and more.

Following the successful completion of the International Graduate Development Program (IGDP) Andrew secured a role as part of the Global New Ventures team within the Exploration department of BG Group. Working with the West Africa sub-team Andrew helped evaluate prospective opportunities along the extent of the West Africa margin along with a selection of other world wide opportunities.

As part of the Geological Operations team at BG Group Andrew contributed to the daily monitoring and reporting of wells from around the world. Working in an integrated environment, the role required a strong ability to integrate and summarise detailed technical information from a number of different sources. Andrew also spent 5 weeks visiting operations onshore in Kazakhstan and 2 weeks offshore Norway.

Andrew completed a placement with the UK based Brazil Developments team where he worked on a detailed 3D seismic interpretation and depth conversion over the pre-salt Sapinhoa field in the Santos Basin. This project required the ability to produce an accurate interpretation over a large 3D dataset followed by building a structural model of the reservoir. This also included evaluating multiple approaches to depth conversion to achieve an optimal development plan for the pre-salt field.

Andrew's second graduate assignment was in the BG Group Stavanger office where he was tasked with conducting a New Ventures style investigation into the Jan Mayen Microcontinent. This required the ability to work to tight schedules and deliver a balanced view of prospectivity in an under-explored and data poor area. Delivery required strong project management and technical curiosity.

Andrew completed his first placement at BG Group with the Uruguay Exploration team where he produced a detailed seismic interpretation of regional 2D data set and generated a number of GDE maps for the area from newly acquired 3D data and well database. This required cross discipline collaboration with other geoscientists and specialists across the company. Andrew was recognised for the quality of his technical presentation, summarising BG Group’s of view of the offshore prospectivity, to ANCAP in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Andrew undertook an internship at the Hess Corporation’s Regional Headquarters in London where he worked as part of the production team on the generation of reserves estimates. This required the use of advanced net pay map modelling in Petrel.He was involved in interlinking Petrel and Excel workflows and streamlining the processes of the reserves estimations. He also gained valuable knowledge by attending graduate training and core sample workshops.

Andrew worked in Jindabyne, NSW, Australia as a Ski Instructor for Thredbo Ski Resort. He gained experience of how to lead groups and how to manage and adapt his approach depending on the mix of abilities and situations he was presented with. He was responsible for the safety and welfare of each member of the group, in what has the potential to be a dangerous environment, whilst ensuring all lessons were still of a high quality and conducted in an enjoyable and timely manner.
