To support the Autonomy Incubator's core mission of autonomous swarm and control research, additional vehicle types must be researched as research platform options. I was charged with investigating the viability of small Hovercraft vehicles that would be used as a bridge between the rover and flying testbeds. Using literature examples, I constructed a framework of viable hardware and software solutions, constructed several prototype designs and flight-tested a control board option.Future work involves autonomously operating a prototype vehicle to test for viability on ground surfaces, hardware size restrictions vs. swarm patterns and cost per package.

The project's overview is to build a quadcopter testbed in conjunction with a custom flight controller in MATLAB/Simulink to perform hardware-in-the-loop simulations. The primary objective is to balance an inverted pendulum placed atop the quadcopter while simultaneously dampening an oscillating mass hanging beneath itself. This test will illustrate a control scheme equipped to solve mission-critical oscillation issues.

I have been a member of the Honors College since I started at South Dakota State. I have taken many Honors College courses (as many as I could fit into my schedule) and have gone over the required amount for graduation with Honors College distinction. I have found my association with the college has heightened my drive for pursuing academic and work experiences and it has improved my drive and work ethic.

With this job, I gained experience in organizing product on the store's floor and backrooms, helping to identify and order product that was getting low in-store, and helping customers check out at the front registers. This helped me a great deal with speaking with the knowledge and confidence to help out the customer.
