I am interested in the concept and use of evidence-based practice in environmental management. In 2007 I founded, with colleagues, the Collaboration for Environmental Evidence (CEE, www.environmentalevidence.org) which supports the conduct and reporting of environmental evidence synthesis and acts as a reliable source of evidence on environmental impacts of human actions and effectiveness of environmental interventions worldwide. The CEE publishes evidence syntheses based on the best available scientific evidence to inform decision making in conservation and environmental management. I am also Professor of Evidence-Based Conservation, Bangor University, UK and Editor in Chief of the journal Environmental Evidence (www.environmentalevidencejournal.org). Specialties: Evidence synthesis, Evidence-based practice, Environmental management, Conservation biology
Listed skills include Biodiversity, Environmental Policy, Ecology, Conservation Issues, and 20 others.

This programme of activity will pave the way to addressing crucial challenges and exciting opportunities that present from the UK leaving the European Union, including optimising sustainable environmental management and ensuring the resilience of our ecosystems and the quality of our water and air. At a time when focus is overwhelmingly on short-term requirements, this programme will define, prioritise and address the medium- to long-term knowledge gaps in the environmental science evidence base. It will identify where NERC investments, the wider environmental research landscape and interdisciplinary knowledge can help address these challenges to inform decisions and pioneer innovative policies and solutions. It will take a holistic, systemic and outcome-driven approach.
The Collaboration for Environmental Evidence brings together people in the environmental sector working towards a sustainable global environment and the conservation of biodiversity. The collaboration seeks to synthesise evidence on issues of greatest concern to inform environmental policy and practice. The Collaboration is not for profit and relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of many contributors to provide a reliable source of evidence to continuously improve the effectiveness of our actions.
