On June 1st, 2013, the museum proudly unveiled its new art exhibit, featuring the landscape paintings of the late Thomas Locker. This event took a lot of planning, networking, organizing, and marketing took place, of which I played a key role. This included: Preparing the main museum building for the exhibit; Overseeing the installation of a state-of-the-art alarm system; Liaising with art galleries, artists, and media groups; Producing marketing materials; Publicizing the event; and Recruiting volunteers and staff members to work at the museum during the exhibit, which runs until October 14th, 2013. With regards to publicizing the museum's art exhibit, together with Dr Kevin Avery, Professor of Fine Art, from the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art, New York, I took part in a radio discussion on WANC 90.3 FM's Round-table program. I have also conducted radio interviews and recorder advertisements on behalf of the museum with New York based stations: WRIP 97.9 FM; and WGXC 90.7 FM. Furthermore, as part of the museum's ongoing promotion of its exhibit and the local area of Greene County, I was recently invited to give a lecture at an Arts Festival in Pallenville, New York. I also hosted and facilitated a meet-and-greet event designed to bring together local historians, tourist operators, and local town/government officials in order to discuss a strategic plan for increasing the amount of tourists who visit the area. In preparation for the various promotional and media responsibilities that I take part in, a significant amount of my time is spent researching information about the museum and the local area of Greene County. Further, I also play a leading role in writing and developing marketing materials such as leaflets, posters, and letters, and articles, aimed at information and tourist centers, local radio stations, newspapers, and magazines, all of which are essential for promoting events at the museum and encouraging tourists to visit the area.

Fresh Start is a homeless charity based in Edinburgh, UK. They provide training opportunities to homeless people that will increase their ability of gaining employment or access to an educational institution. In January 2006 Fresh Start launched a Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) service and a Training Initiative, providing young people who had been homeless with an opportunity to gain work-based skills, training and paid work experience. In order for the Training Initiative to develop and to begin offering students a programme that provided meaningful opportunities, my job as Development Worker required me to focus on a number of key areas including: Developing an effective student recruiting process; Interviewing potential candidates; Creating a nine-month training programme; Setting-up opportunities for students to gain work experience; and Providing ongoing support and supervision for them. Additionally, I was responsible for: Developing and producing marketing material used in advertising the PAT service; Establishing PAT contracts with organizations throughout the Lothian region; Developing and maintaining relationships with employability organizations that provided Training Initiative applicants; and Negotiating with colleges to have students enrolled in PAT training courses. I was responsible for managing my own annual budget and producing quarterly reports on the progression of the PAT training initiative. On a six monthly basis I met with tHE the board of directors in order to discuss the progress of the PAT training programme as well as the strategic plan for the coming year. I also produced a full report at the end of each fiscal year, as required by the organization funding the PAT training initiative and Fresh Start's board of directors.
