As Executive Director of one of the 10 Forensic Evaluation Centers in Ohio, I coordinate and assign Court Ordered forensic evaluations (Competency, Sanity, Mental Condition, Juvenile Bind-over, etc.) for courts in 17 counties in Ohio. I ,myself, am an examiner for the agency and we also have a network paid consultants in southeastern and central Ohio who complete these forensic evaluations. We also do forensic monitoring in 10 counties for individuals previously found NGRI (or sometimes Incompetent to Stand Trial) who had been committed to psychiatric hospitals, but who have been released from the hospital under certain conditions. I am also ultimately responsible for managing the finances of this free-standing, Private, Not For Profit agency, although I have an administrative assistant/fiscal secretary to help with this part of the job. We serve as a resource to courts, prosecutors, and attorneys in our area and help find referral sources for the types of cases we do not cover. By doing forensic evaluations at the outpatient center or by visiting jails or doing evaluations at public defender's offices, courthouses, etc., we save the State of Ohio money, as compared to the days when getting a forensic evaluation required a period of commitment to a psychiatric hospital. I also belong to the Association of Ohio Forensic Evaluation Center Directors (where I previously served as President of the Association) which provides continuing education opportunities for examiners and other members of the Criminal Justice community, and which also works to monitor and assure the quality of assessments done at the various forensic centers in Ohio.

Prior to becoming the Executive Director, I was a (part time) consultant for the Forensic Diagnostic Center of District Nine, doing Competency to Stand Trial, Sanity, and other Forensic Evaluations.

At this inpatient psychiatric setting, I did individual and group psychotherapy, as well as general psychological assessments and some forensic assessments. I was a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

In this outpatient community mental health setting, I did individual, group, marital and family therapy, psychological assessments for clinicians and Courts, supervised other clinicians, and as Chief Clinical Officer consulted with agency administration, the Mental Health Board Director, and helped resolve any conflicts that arouse between the Community Mental Health Center and State Hospital.

At this Rehabilitation Unit, I counseled and sometimes psychologically assessed or neuropsychologically screened individuals with various physical or neurological problems, often in the aftermath of a CVA, neurodegenerative disease, or brain injury. I was a consultant to a Physiatrist, a specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine.
