Contrary to popular belief, your technical skills in IT is not always your top priority. In a service, support and help desk position, the first factor to making a great technician is their customer service strategy. Giving your clients a positive and exemplary experience is the priority of any industry, followed by demonstrations of thorough knowledge and execution of your craft. From the food industry, to private security, software support and IT; this has remained true in every position I have held with every employer since 2011.Stepping beyond this, strong technical skills and a service mindset are crucial to being a System Administrator, but you must also play a larger role in the company with vendor management and advising on critical systems and implementations across all departments.If I could compare a company to a sandwich, the Systems Administrator is the toothpick and olive that keeps the sandwich together. I chose IT as my profession of choice because it is my passion. I discovered my passion the moment I unboxed those new PC components and built my personal computer by hand. The smile that appeared on my face when the PC booted to life for the first time is something I will always remember. I was able to get my foot in the door of the IT industry by working and passing a hardware repair and recycling internship in the Bay Area, working up to software support, and finally the challenging gauntlet of the MSP world. I've honed my craft over the years. I have so much to learn and will always push forward. Stagnation and plateauing my skills as a tech is not a possibility in my mind. I will always continue to challenge myself to improve, but I can confidently state that I will take every challenge head on, with nearly a decade of customer service experience at my back.Primary skills: Customer Service, Windows Desktop and Windows Server Administration, Networking, Fortinet Firewalls, Troubleshooting and Documentation.
