About Andrew Iverson

I’m a Geophysicist with over 9 years of professional experience in the exploration and production industries. Specializing in interpreting 2D, 3D and 4D reflection seismic, VSP and microseismic data utilizing standard interpretation methods, inversion and various attributes. Proficient with Seisware, Hampson-Russell, Petrel, Attribute Studio, Geoscout, Python, Excel and matlab.I bring a broad geophysical skill set gained through diverse projects from NE BC and Alberta in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (Horn River, Viking, Manville Group and Montney) to the Williston Basin in Saskatchewan and Flemish Pass in Atlantic Canada. My enthusiasm, curiosity and creativity make it enjoyable to work on solving the complex problems that are offered in the industry.

Andrew Iverson Work Experience Details
  • Suede Energy Ltd.
    Senior Geophysicist
Suede Energy Ltd. Jun 2022 - Jun 2024
Exploration and development of the Basal Quartz formation of the Lower Cretaceous Mannville group in South Central Alberta. Interpreted seismic data with a combination of post-stack interpretation, pre-stack inversion and machine learning tools. Managed the reprocessing and merging of seismic data with varying vintages and acquisition parameters from the bidding processes to vendor selection through to quality control meetings. Created and applied machine learning and rock physics templates for a fluvial incised valley system for horizon identification and rock property evaluation.
  • Spartan Delta Corp.
    Geophysicist
Spartan Delta Corp. Sep 2021 - Jun 2022
    Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Contributed to the Montney and Deep Basin team through reservoir property prediction from seismic though inversion, rock physics and machine learning to predict produced fluids and fracture area.
  • Velvet Energy Ltd.
    Geophysicist
Velvet Energy Ltd. Sep 2018 - Aug 2021
    Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Contribute to the Montney and Edson teams with a combination of tools including seismic interpretation, inversion, and machine learning. This is done to de-risk well locations and refine subsurface estimates leading to the prediction of produced fluids and fracture area. This is completed on both conventional and unconventional assets.
  • Velvet Energy Ltd.
    Geophysicist
Velvet Energy Ltd. Sep 2017 - Apr 2018
    Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Applying pre-stack seismic inversion and rock physics methods to increase the predictability of rock properties for unconventional reservoirs
  • Nexen
    Summer Student Geophysics
    Nexen May 2017 - Aug 2017
    Calgary, Canada Area
I was a Member of the Atlantic Canada team with my project focusing near Flemish Pass. I interpreted regional marine 2D seismic data through pre-stack inversion and rock physics. This was completed to identify variations in rock properties assisting in reservoir characterization.
  • Apache Corporation
    Geophysicist
    Apache Corporation May 2012 - Apr 2015
    Calgary, Canada Area
Completed rotations in Technology, Exploration and Development teams. Applied AVO modeling and Inversion techniques to improve pad placement and reduce risk. Interpreted microseismic data to evaluate completion efficiency. utilized 2D and 3D seismic data to reduce risk and evaluate prospects. Used 3D seismic to depth convert to assist in well planning. Some key formations I have evaluated are the Montney in Alberta and the Viking and Manville group in Provost.
  • Apache Corporation
    Geophysics Summer Student
    Apache Corporation May 2011 - Aug 2011
    Calgary, Canada Area
Interpreted microseismic data and attributes for Horn River. Correlated microseismic attributes to 3D surface seismic inversion attributes and interpreted 4D seismic to understand the completion effectiveness.
  • University Of Calgary
    Seismology Research Assistant
University Of Calgary May 2010 - Aug 2010
    Calgary, Canada Area
Worked on two projects, the first was calculating the seismic moment tensor for the Nov 17, 2009 Queen Charlotte earthquake. Second, installed temporary seismic stations and analyzed results for Undergraduate thesis on production related microseismicity at the Strachan gas field.
