I teach a humanities class, History of Advertising in America once a semester to 50 undergraduates. The course focuses on critical thinking skills, presentation skills, and propaganda analysis, as well as the content of US history through the lens of advertising over the past 300 years. This has been my role since the COVID 19 pandemic reduced the number of international students at MSU.For 28 years, I taught all levels of ESL to college bound international students, my focus was usually on academic writing. I also work extensively in test development and oral & written exam rater training. Keeps me busy!

SIG leaders in state TESOL organizations chair meetings at the annual state conferences and work on creating better and more productive connections between TESOL professionals with similar interests. I have served as the Adult Education SIG leader and am now the Post-Secondary SIG leader for MITESOL, Michigan's TESOL affiliate.

A Toastmasters club president is responsible for organizing and motivating the rest of the club officers to fulfill their roles in keeping the club on track. Further, the president presides over certain aspects of the meeting. As club president, I also fill in for the treasurer and VP of Education regularly, as well as providing the agenda and other forms for our meetings. My ultimate responsibility is to make everyone who visits and/or joins our club feel welcome, to encourage their integration into our club, and to encourage all members to work toward accomplishing their public speaking goals. Toastmasters is the most cost effective way you can develop your public speaking and leadership skills!
