I serve as a design engineer on projects at Structural Design Group. I am responsible for engineering design, preparation of specifications, quality control, coordination with other disciplines, and assisting in the resolution of any engineering related issues during construction. I have experience in the design of a variety of structural systems for commercial, education, healthcare, emergency services and a wide range of other project types. My experience includes structural steel, cold-formed steel, reinforced concrete, wood, and masonry. In addition, I have a broad knowledge of numerous computer structural analysis tools and use this understanding to model, analyze, and design complicated structures.

I was involved with many research projects during my time at UT as an undergraduate and graduate student. A list of projects I have assisted with are listed below: 1. Pre-treatment decay and its effects on the mechanical properties of wooden railroad ties; full-scale tests include: 3-point bending, compression perpendicular to the grain, and spike withdrawal. 2. Single Plate Shear Connections; full-scale tests include: conventional and extended single plate connections. 3. Cold-formed steel diaphragms and connections; full scale tests include: 15'x15' diaphragms, sleeved-flexural connection, and concentric connection.

I reviewed shop drawings, formatted and developed design spreadsheets, and assembled contract documents for ongoing projects. Assisted in two site visits: 1) was a construction inspection and 2) was to investigate existing conditions for a renovation project. Excellent industry experience and even better team experience!

Responsible for job estimating, take-offs, bids, and managing portions of projects. I also perform field work such as: installation of micropiles, soil nail walls, and grouting injections.

I have interned twice at McLaren Engineering Group in New Jersey gaining experience in surveying and site/civil practice. My skills include: survey; topographic, construction stake-out, mark-out, and site/civil; boring investigations, storm water management inspections, SWPPP inspections, and great problem solving skills.
