Founding director responsible for the establishment of the vision and business model of the practice and its’ growth from a sole practice to a company of 6-8 staff. Fostered a studio culture of engagement and dialogue to implement high quality design outcomes. Leveraged strong connections with universities to form a staff profile comprising highly skilled professionals. Provides leadership, management, staff mentoring, client liaison and design direction across a diverse portfolio of institutional, retail, community-based, heritage and residential projects, including architecture and interiors. Led complex stakeholder and consultant team coordination within university, business and local government contexts, as well as contract administration and building contractor negotiation. Designed and implemented the office information technology structure, web site and administrative systems, as well as establishing an in-house 3D CAD-CAM workshop for modelling and prototype testing (including 3D printing, timber fabrication and 3D milling machinery).

Co-founding director with Prof. Alan Pert (Director of Melbourne School of Design). Parallel Practice was established as an adjunct to ASA to bridge industry and academia and extend the scope of the disciplines of architecture, urban design and interiors through research. PP provides a vehicle for cross-disciplinary working, connecting disparate research centres and exploring the potential of research-based design.

Engaged by the Monash University Faculty of Art and Design to research, coordinate and author a feasibility study into establishing degree courses in the built environment disciplines including architecture, urban design, landscape architecture and planning. Liaised with Prof. John Redmond, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design and an Advisory Panel of eminent practitioners including Brit Andresen, John Denton, Geoffrey London, Desley Luscombe and Carey Lyon. Following the successful endorsement of the feasibility study by Monash University, responsible for the coordination and preliminary development of the course structure and launch of the architecture program prior to the appointment of the Foundation Chair (Prof. Shane Murray).This included extensive public promotion and staff recruitment leading to a first year intake with an ENTER score close to 90 for the program’s inaugural year. Continued as a senior lecturer in architecture and assisted with staff appointments, course writing and delivery for the first three years of the program up to provisional course accreditation by the AACA.
