Leading the development of a risk management program for Louisville and surrounding area’s natural gas delivery system that complies with American Petroleum Institute’s Recommended Practice 1173 to drive continuous improvement in the safe operation of compressor stations, high pressure gas distribution & transmission, storage, and associated operation & maintenance.

Oversaw a team of 15 direct reports of varying professional backgrounds (chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, process controls, analytical chemist, reliability engineers, & inspectors). Provided functional direction to ensure the long term success of the Freon22 production asset at the Chemours Louisville works facilities. Managed sites capital budget ($1-2MM annually). Led business critical projects as a technical resource that were time critical.

Responsible for the day to day operation of the Louisville Works Freon 22 plant, including the main operating unit and utilities. Achieved successful execution of the sites operating budget ($25-30MM annually) for fixed and variable cost. Led initiatives that improved production to plan by 4% and uptime by 10% in 2020/2021 relative to 2018/2019 performance. Developed overall execution plan to implement 3 consecutive major capital projects of $10MM+ with on time start up, including a business critical greenhouse gas emission reduction project in 2022.

Promoted in place to Manufacturing Technology Staff Engineer. • Led site environmental footprint analysis to support Operations Sustainability Review project. Mapped out all emission points for site including chemical composition, flow rate, and known/potential contaminants.• Lead Process Engineer in implementation of a $200k capital project for new Freon 22 moisture analyzers. Duties included design of new sampling preparation system, overseeing project installation, development of procedures, operator training, and installation commissioning with corporate analyzer resource.• Site Highly Toxic Material (HTM) Guardian for Chlorine. Trained in chlorine handling per Chlorine Institute and internal company guidelines. Qualified 2nd Party Chlorine HTM auditor.

Responsible as primary process engineer resource for Freon 22 process that co-produces hydrochloric acid. Supported day to day operations and provided technical troubleshooting to optimize unit performance, quality, and reliability. Provide engineering expertise to establish a reliable and safe plant operation for the world's largest Freon 22 reactors and associated distillation columns/separation equipment including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and storage/loading facilities.• Lead Process Engineer in implementation of a $450k capital project for new aqueous hydrochloric acid concentration analyzers and piping upgrade. Duties included design of new PTFE lined FRP piping system for corrosion resistance upgrade, control scheme simplification, overseeing project installation, development of procedures, and post-commissioning comparison test of new concentration analyzers vs sampling.• Implemented site transition to 20% Sodium Hydroxide for waste water treatment. Improved site reliability by eliminating need for freeze protection• Tracked daily green house gas emissions and drove continuous improvement efforts to reduce emissions• Qualified Process Hazard Assessment (PHA) resource. Led 4 cyclical PHA's for the site.• Primary site manager of engineering co-op students. Facilitate interviewing and selection of 3 co-ops (ChE, ME, EE) annually. Engineering co-op for the process engineering department of the Ashland Calvert City plant that produced acetylene derivative polymers. Supported key site operations and provided technical troubleshooting for 4 site units. Assisted 4 process engineers with plant support needs.• Led effort that reduced cycle time on a pumping process by 75% by manipulating key process parameters (temperature, pressure).• Coordinated a trial of new cartridge filters for cost reduction and store room stock security.• Implemented the use of antifoaming agents to prevent environmental releases• Integrated several site functions (packaging system, product quality data queries) using Excel VBA. Developed very strong VBA skills• Generated and updated Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
