Oversee all aspects of health, safety, and quality across 4 major installations inAustralia.Maintain accreditation and adherence to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 18001standards.Maintain adherence to Brand’s Corporate HSE policies, procedures, and practices.Provide expert opinion on all HSEQ related matter across the business.Respond to information requests related to tenders.Conduct site, yard, and office inspections to ensure compliance with standards.Conduct audits to internal and external criteria to ensure compliance, raising andtracking corrective actions where required.Conduct incident / accident investigations.Manage Worker’s Compensation for all claims across the business.Report HSE performance to Australia and International Management.Identify emerging issues and develop action plan.

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems designs, constructs, and maintains super critical coalfired power stations. Here in Australia they constructed the Tarong, Callide, Stanwell, andSwanbank power stations, along with many smaller process based boilers for industry.Since construction of these boilers MHPS have provided maintenance services, turningover approximately $100 million per year.Key achievements:Prepared safety documents and statistics for tenders.Preparation of project safety management plans which merged company policies andprocedures with the client’s on site requirements.Ensure qualifications, tickets, licenses, and competencies of all workers on site.Preparation, delivery, and recording of training packages to project workforceInduction of all workers to project and site.Preparation of Safe Work Method Statements and Job Safety Analysis for all work onsite.Inspections and audits to ensure compliance and recommend improvements.Maintain accreditation of the company Safety Management System to AS4801,AS14001, ISO9001, and the Federal Safety Commission standards.Creating or editing of procedures and forms.Conducting risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure adequate controls.Regular site inspections and compliance audits.Preparation of reports for Management and Clients.Formal investigations of incident and accidents to identify system failures andsolutions.Provide advice regarding legislative requirements, standards, and industry bestpractice.Preparation and delivery of end of project reports to senior management teams.

Transfield Services (Transmission and Distribution) constructs and maintains high voltageelectrical transmission lines across Australia and New Zealand. During my tenure we wereresponsible for the replacement of a 220 KV transmission line, and the installation ofOptical Fibre Ground Wire (OPGW) on the West coast of Tasmania.Key achievements:Hazard identification and risk management for high voltage electrical line workers.Identification, provisioning, and enforcement of electrical industry licenserequirements.Auditing and compliance to the Power System Safety Rules (PSSR).Preparing Safe Work Method Statements for all work.Prepare permits to enable work near live high voltage transmission lines.Investigation of incidents and accidents for management, clients, and governmentauthorities.Inspection, tagging, and testing of all plant, equipment, and specialist electricalequipment.Promotion of safety aware culture within work force and sub-contractors.Safety Management System audits of sub-contractors.Liaising with stakeholders to resolve potential conflicts.

This $900 million project to doubled the capacity of the existing Visy Pulp and Paper millin Tumut, NSW. The project included the construction of a new super critical steamboiler, a new paper mill next to the existing one, a much larger warehouse to store thefinished product, and construction or expansion of all support systems. I was in charge ofsite security, workplace inductions, permits to work, vetting and approvals ofsubcontractor safety management systems, inspections and audits of work site to ensurecompliance, and incident/accident investigation reports. The project consumed over 1.5million man hours, which we completed without a single Lost Time injury.Key achievements:Provisioning and management of all risk and safety services for the $900 millionupgrade project to an existing paper mill site.Management of a small team of OHS professionals to ensure operational safety andadministrative compliance.Management of permit to work system to ensure all methods of work on siteconformed to applicable standards and industry best practice.Management of site security and induction procedures.Management of site emergency response readiness, including first aid requirements.Audit and enforcement of site safety rules and compliance with JSEA’s.Hazard Identification and risk assessments for designs, constructions, commissioningoperations, operation and maintenance of facilities.Design, implementation, and monitoring of safety management systems.Incident investigations where required.Collation and generation of reports to management on performance of project inrelation to safety.Zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) or serious medical treatment injuries with over 1.5 millionman hours.
