Andrew is a licensed Professional Engineer who has spent his career working in private land development since the early days of summer jobs during studies at McMaster University.Andrew started in the field, spending time on survey crews completing legal surveys, pinning foundations and walking fields with a GPS completing topos. He then cut his teeth in construction doing layout and inspection for small servicing jobs around Hamilton and Niagara. After graduation Andrew was fortunate to get a job as Assistant Field Manager at the office of Weslake Inc. and was soon promoted to Field Manager. There he learned the ins and outs of contract administration, dealing with larger scale developments, reducing LCs and getting infrastructure assumed by the municipality.Always desiring to learn Andrew changed directions after the financial crisis of 2009. He hung up the work-boots for a pair of wing-tips and set about learning the approvals process: how to engineer for development, designing grading and servicing for small severances to large subdivisions and the all important storm-water management. Andrew took on more and more responsibility in his role as a design engineer, project manager and eventually as Engineering Manager for a local planning, survey and engineering firm. Andrew was blessed to have some great mentors and to learn from some of the top professionals in the business. 2020 to 2021 showed us all that nothing can be taken for granted, that we need to make the most of our time and that opportunities we take for granted today may not be here tomorrow. With that in mind Andrew decided to step out and fulfill his long-time ambition of offering his services directly to the industry by forming LandSmith Engineering & Consulting Ltd.
