I earned my stripes in Healthcare Information Technology by working from the bottom up. I started in product development for a healthcare vendor, then supported a hospital IT department with bespoke product development to cover the organization's particular needs. I learned how to play between off-the-shelf applications and make them communicate in ways that supported providers to enhance patient care. This led me to integration engines and, eventually, to InterSystems and HealthShare.
