I manage a growing team of 6 analysts with diverse backgrounds and skills. Working with leaders around the company, I helped execute strategies which have improved the efficiency and sophistication of the analytics required to transform healthcare delivery at Intermountain Healthcare.In addition to overseeing this analytic function within the company, I've also led the execution of multiple pricing and contracting strategies to help Intermountain create and capture value across the continuum of care.

I only served in this role for a year before being promoted, but during this time I went from being the sole analyst in Decision Support to supervising a rapidly growing, multidisciplinary group of 3 analysts.

As a senior financial analyst, I sought out every opportunity I could find to improve the analytic work product of Intermountain Healthcare. Here is a short list of analytic projects which I proactively pursued:-I identified areas of opportunity to improve the financial position of a small rural hospital and pressed to ensure these changes were prioritized during the next negotiation cycle of the contract. This led to a double digit increase in operating income for the hospital. -I created a model capable of predicting total cash collections for Intermountain Healthcare over the next twelve months within 1% of the actual outcome. -I developed a tool which can be used by staff around the company to answer basic questions about financial outcomes on their own, rather than having to request the analysis from an employee. This report is now used hundreds of times a quarter and has allowed analysts around the company to focus on more value adding tasks. -I created a tool which allowed contract monitoring employees to validate the appropriateness of insurance payments in seconds, replacing a process which formerly took 15-20 minutes.

As a new financial analyst, I did everything I could to automate the basic reporting duties I had been assigned, reducing the time required to create monthly and weekly reports by 85%. I used the free time which this automation afforded me to learn as much as possible about how to be a great analyst. During this time I developed a number of key skills:-Writing complex Oracle SQL queries-Creating macros in Microsoft Excel-Mastering complex functions in Excel, including array formulas-Creating business intelligence tools using IBM Cognos and Tableau to better serve the needs of my customers
