Developing an EPRI strategic research focus area on advanced (Generation IV) nuclear generation technology energy systems to promote alignment of public sector investment in national R&D programs and private sector innovation efforts with the needs of the technology customer - electric utilities and other owner/operators. Leading EPRI’s international engagement to promote and develop a sustained collaborative testing program to support commercialization of high-performance, enhanced accident tolerant nuclear fuel systems for light water reactors.Led development of EPRI decision-analysis framework and tools for structured assessment of advanced nuclear fuel cycles to inform long-term research & development (R&D) planning and investment.Previous roles and responsibilities also included:-- coordination of government and industry R&D efforts to ensure safe storage of used nuclear fuel over extended periods;-- coordination ol industry-led early event analyses of the spent fuel pools at the Fukushima Daiichi NPP following the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.-- management of EPRI's independent performance assessment of the Yucca Mountain project for disposal and permanent isolation of commercial used fuel

Developed and implementated U.S. policy to strengthen global radiological security and physical protection of nuclear material via the IAEA and other multilateral fora.Provided technical, policy, and budget oversight of U.S. assistance programs for international nuclear safety, including European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Chernobyl funds.Provided technical and U.S. policy support for international radiation health effects science.

Developed and led research to characterize the biogeochemical cycling of uranium and heavy metals in a riparian ecosystem contaminated by effluents from manufacturing activities associated with nuclear weapons production.

Conducted research and educational outreach on the Navajo Nation supporting communities impacted by abandoned uranium mines.
