A part of the Solstice Media Group, The Lead collaborates with SMEs, PR companies, industry and government departments to source, write, publish, distribute and promotes news stories from a diverse range of South Australian industries and shares them with other specialised media organisations across the globe. Responsibilities:• Use contact networks and news gathering skills to find, write and publish newsworthy stories from across South Australia. Topics include mining and resources, tourism, manufacturing, health and ageing, education, food & wine, primary industries and technology. • Manage the website including the publishing of stories, image library and video uploads.• Edit the stories of co-workers including fact checking, proofing, rewriting, and headline writing.• Manage and mentor junior reporter and provide news writing training.• Actively use social media to promote content and as a newsgathering source.• Act as Publishing Editor when required.

Pagemasters is an arm of the media company Australian Associated Press. It produces and edits publication ready material for dozens of newspapers across the country. Responsibilities:• Log in to AAP network remotely and sub edit a wide variety of stories for newspaper publications across Australia• Sub editing duties include fact checking, proofing, rewriting, cutting and headline writing.

Owned by News Corp, The Advertiser is the largest media organisation in South Australia producing the mastheads The Advertiser, Sunday Mail and 11 Messenger Community News titles. • Largely a Chief of Staff role assigning stories to reporters, managing news lists, overseeing rosters, generating story leads• Liaise directly with the editor on news of the day and crafting copy• Running special projects and campaigns• Liaise with external stakeholders such as government departments, corporations, professional bodies and contributors• Manage the Politics and Health/Education/Science/Environment teams• Work with interstate news desks and act as the Head of News when required.

Messenger Community News produces 11 community newspaper titles each week across suburban Adelaide.Responsibilities:• Manage regional editors, production team and department heads, led group-wide editorial campaigns• Edit publications and assisted in sub-editing duties when required• Perform Chief of Staff duties, such as assigning news leads to relevant regions, mentoring and training cadets and emerging team leaders and hiring new staff• Run Messenger’s internship program in conjunction with the University of South Australia and University of Adelaide• Work on content sharing and joint campaigns with The Advertiser and Sunday Mail• Write columns and opinion pieces for all Messenger mastheads• Formulate and drive editorial strategies and liaise with other parts of the business such as sales and marketing teams on commercial projects. • Successfully led South Australian deployment and assisted at several interstate launches of major new publishing system including training, technical rollout and trouble shooting.

Responsibilities:• Led and oversaw 12 weekly community newspapers and corresponding websites• Set direction and approved the final content of all publications• Led editorial executive team• Represent editorial as a member of Messenger’s senior management group• Worked closely with Editor in Chiefs nationally to implement strategies and share initiatives.
