In 2006 Andrew and his family took up the challenge of moving to Canada. Andrew set up a corporation and began supply and installation of waterproofing and roofing systems in the local market, growing familiar with the local climate, products used and methods of construction. Areas of application included retaining walls, podiums and decks, internal wet areas and shower systems, parking garage decks, planter boxes and roofing applications. In 2012, the contracting operation was sold to allow the corporation to specialize in supply and specification of waterproofing and coating systems. Kemforte Systems currently supply their range of waterproofing systems and roof coatings in Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada.

In 1994, Durotech Waterproofing, began focusing it's efforts on selling their products to other contractors. This involved working with project managers, property managers, architects, and engineers. Durotech continued to do some installation, but this decreased as product sales increased. By 1998, the business had completley transitioned into a selling operation, supplying it's line of specialized fluid applied roofing and waterproofing membrane coatings. Durotech increased it's range to include acrylics, polyurethane's, silicone, epoxy, coatings, sealants and associated accessories, supplying major projects all across Australia, Singapore, New Guinea, and Pacific Island Regions. Durotech was a major supplier of waterproofing and roofing systems for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games facilities, including the Olympic Superdome and Athlete accommodation. Other Projects that Durotech have supplied their systems to include the Sydney Opera house, military bases, hotel chains, American Express Sydney HQ, banks, and local & federal government buildings. Durotech became a major supplier of waterproofing and roofing systems to large-scale contractors. We also manufactured products for other waterproofing companies such as Tremco Australia. In 2004, Graham Stead sold the business due to poor health and the business continues to be a successful operation today.

Durotech Waterproofing ( Industries) was a family business started by Andrew's father, Graham Stead in 1976. Graham began his career as an industrial chemist with a major Australian coatings company, Industrial Metal Protectives, where he learned the principles and concepts of developing, testing and manufacturing a broad range of protective coatings. His business began initially with the manufacture and application of asphalt and epoxy based coatings evolving into polymer elastomeric membrane coatings. When Graham's sons joined Durotech Waterproofing, the business, extended their operations into roofing installation projects. On the product development side, Durotech gained government accreditation for it's fluid applied roofing and waterproofing products. Andrew's main function in this time period was supervising and installing waterproofing and roofing products on these projects.
