I have a wide range of experience working with students across multiple disciplines. As a Disability Support Program and Services Counselor, I used my active listening and strong communication skills to ensure and guide my students took the correct academic courses to graduate on time and find a career in their field of study. I to keep students on track to graduate on time by strict project management skills, as well as cross-team collaboration both internally and externally with outside employers to ensure potential careers were lined up for students upon graduation. Beyond my mentorship, teamwork and academic/career planning skills, I have extensive experience working with technology database such as Bureau of Labor Statistics. Using this platform allowed me to analyze the longevity of employment growth within career fields. This data allowed me to visually show students and clients pro’s and con’s of career field they have chosen. When working as a Rehabilitation Vocational Counselor for the state of California and Northwest Center, I had to think like a marketer and help develop strategies to recruit different companies to partner with our program, thus providing my organization with more employment opportunities for our clients. As you can see in previous employment, I have developed the ability to provide accurate guidance to students and clients to fine tune my recruiting skills by getting new business to partner with an employment agency and use technology to communicate, market and track success of client placement.
