I am a Civil Engineer with over 20 years experience gained on working on a broad range of highways and infrastructure projects through all stages from feasibility, through design, to construction. I have particular expertise in drainage design and have a good working knowledge of the requirements from Sewers for Adoption and the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges. From my experience working on housing developments I am aware of the requirements of Section 38, 278 agreements for highways and Section 104 and 106 drainage agreements. I also have experience of writing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies.I have aided in overseeing graduates and other engineers work within the Transportation team. I am able to manage my own projects and train others members of the team to ensure delivery of the highest quality to deadline and on budget. I also have experience of being the discipline lead drainage engineer on much larger schemes. I am an experienced user of software packages including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access. East West Rail - I was appointed the Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) for the delivery of three stations at Oxford Parkway, Biscester and Islip. Our role was to provide designs and specifications for all civil and infrastructure aspects of the station. The role was multidisciplinary and required regular liaison and meetings with the track, structures, platform and ducting. Due to flooding issues Oxfordshire CC were seeking significant reduction within the Strategical Flood Risk Assessment which was a major constraint to the site discharge rates.Liverpool FC - Senior drainage engineer on the design of the new Main Stand to Stage C and the feasibility of the new Anfield Road Stand. The design involved a drainage strategy report to ensure that the drainage for the new roof, toilets and kitchen areas would be in use prior to the decommissioning of existing sewers. The main role at this stage was to highlight the risks to the potential diversionary works whether temporary or permanent. One such risk being the new roof stanchions which were founded directly over a 1.5m x 0.9m diameter Victorian brick sewer which was over 10m deep.Hipperholme Pinchpoint - The Department for Transport has approved Local Pinch Point funding for a junction improvement scheme at the crossroads of the A58 and A644 at Hipperholme in order to support a nearby development of 350 - 400 houses. This project was extremely contentious and we had to attend public open sessions and release regular articles to the press. The Council, together with the Department for Transport's local pinch point fund, is investing £3.4 million to reduce journey times by between 1 and 7 minutes on the surrounding roads that lead up to Hipperholme crossroads. It will also make it safer for pedestrians crossing the roads that make up the junction.

Sandymoor – Senior Highways and Drainage designer for a new road which will open up 24 parcels of land for development. The project involved overseeing the management of drainage and highways design and liaising with HCA, Galliford Try, Halton BC, Environment Agency and United Utilities. BSF Schools – As the lead design engineer as part of the Highways and Drainage team I have developed schools within the area of Salford. The designs were problematic in terms of levels, attenuation, buildability and time constrains. We completed the works from feasibility in terms of writing the FRA and drainage strategy through to detailed design which included ground modelling and private drainage networks which discharged via a S106 into the public system. Metrolink Phase 3b – Member of the Highways team responsible for the detailed drainage design for the Oldham and Rochdale Town Centres. The design was technically challenging incorporating infrastructure within existing urban environment requiring extensive liaison with other disciplines including Structures, P’Way, Stops, OHLE, and lineside ducting. Carried out detailed design of surface water collection systems including combined kerb and linear drainage, and gully solutions. M6 DIS / MET Installations – Carried out vehicular restraint design for over 20 VMS MS4 sites. Design included RRRAP assessments, use of TD19/06 to design a compliant barrier solution for each site. Liaised with geotechnical and structural engineers to ensure cost effective solutions were arrived at for each site. Responsible for detailed civil design drawings for ancillary works including maintenance lay-bys and access to cabinets. Metrolink Phase 3a – I worked with the Rail team designing the drainage for the Media City site and the stops drainage on the East Line. The Media City site was a very congested site with space constraints and was to be delivered within a challenging programme.
