I have helped enterprise organisations set and implement digital strategy, enabling and building cross-functional teams, creating an internal change agent capability within the organisation while driving customer-led change. Workload migration (on-premise-to-cloud and cloud-to-cloud)• Lean/Ways of Working: Moving from silos to product value stream while embedding agile methodologies (i.e., iterative, Kanban, Scrum) as well as Horizon and outcome-based planning for larger engagements. • Measurement: Customer led Service Level Management (SLAs, SLOs and SLIs), Capacity Planning, Root Cause (i.e. Five Whys etc.) and Chaos Engineering • Sharing: Cultivating and championing concepts like lightning talks, townhall events, lean coffee events and facilitating sessions on the creation of SRE Error Budgets for new services.

I worked as part of a global team on IBM’s HPC cloud-based platform team offering build and system operations support. This included pre-sales, initial setup/on-boarding, on-going support as well as service improvement and account management. Customer solutions ranged from cloud-native offerings on SoftLayer through to complex hybrid burstable clusters with on-site integration.This role required a strong focus on automation (Ansible and proprietary software), pipeline creation/management (Jenkins) and test-driven infrastructure (Test Kitchen and ServerSpec) to quickly deliver customer requirements (taking 3-4 day deployments down to minutes). A solid understanding of Continuous Delivery, Test-Driven development, Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as code.

Responsible for managing the HPC Wales HPC facilities at the Cardiff site on a daily basis. Ensuring a consistently high quality of service focused on enabling the computational research of SME's and researchers within Wales.High Performance Computing Wales (HPC Wales) is a £40million five-year project to give businesses and universities involved in commercially focussed research across Wales access to the most advanced and evolving computing technology available.HPC Wales will invest in state-of-the-art computing technology, infrastructure and facilities on a pan-Wales basis, high level skills development and training and provide tailor made support services to business.

Responsible for managing the University’s centralised HEC facilities on a daily basis. Ensuring a consistently high quality of service focused on enabling the computational research objectives in line with the University’s research enablement mission. The service has over 350 registered users from over 19 departments with a diverse user profile (from serial batch processes (task farming), to complex tightly coupled parallel jobs requiring 512 cores).

Set up in partnership with two colleagues from Cardiff University. Success was achieved through determination, teamwork and resulted in a profitable, small web hosting business that was bought-out by a commercial company in January 2011. Worked directly with clients, 4/5* hotels and catering company’s to run/manage events whist overseeing weekly deployment of a temporary staff base (300-400+ staff) at client sites across Cardiff & Bristol.
