Seventeen years experience in the environmental field notably in environmental regulation with SEPA. Areas of expertise include knowledge and application of Regulations governing discharges to and engineering of the water environment primarily with waste management and air emissions a secondary expertise. Specific site experience in both surface water run-off and industrial drainage as well as river engineering activities and large infrastructure projects. Other skills include engagement with stakeholders, negotiation, and project management. In addition to a technical specialist regulatory role I am the Permitting and Compliance lead for infrastructure projects nationally. Notable projects include --Assessment of industrial effluent discharges to both freshwater and estuarine waters which facilitated business requirements whilst taking cognisance of environmental capacity issues within the receiving waters; -Major infrastructure projects namely the completed £400 million M8 motorway upgrade in Glasgow, A9 Dualling Project and A96 Projects in Scotland amongst others. All aspects of the infrastructure projects are dealt with including technical and regualtory appraisals and assessments for engineering and drainage activities as well as engagement and negotiation with Government, main contractors and sub-contractors to facilitate development and ensure that the legislative requirements are met;- Greater Glasgow area wastewater treatment plants regulation and upgrade projects. Work carried out has included data collection, collation and interrogation to remedy compliance with legislation and ensure appropriate standards on discharges to the water environment.
