My Structural Engineering journey began as a junior technician in 1985 producing detail drawings (on the good old drawing board) and simple design calculations whilst studying part time for my ONC and HNC qualifications. After obtaining a BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering in 1996 my experience as a Structural Engineer has included structural design and detailing (using the latest design and CAD software) on projects for:New build, extensions and alterations to schools for numerous Local Authority and Diocese schools; Various projects for the NHS; Store alterations for major UK retailers; Residential apartment blocks; Sports Halls; Care homes; Light industrial buildings; New build, extensions and alterations to domestic properties; Conversions of existing structures (including timber barns); Experience of structural design in all the traditional construction materials as well as oak frame and straw bale construction; Reinforced concrete detailing; Structural surveys.In 2015 I set up my own consulting structural engineering practice.Did you know....I once appeared on the TV show ‘Designer Homes’ which was following the renovation of a building in Malmesbury!
