I founded Midwest Melancholy Limited to serve as the company backing my bands and public performances, to support artists, and to promote the kind of music, especially the music I enjoy the most: Midwest Emo.

Working under a VP of Engineering, I manage a team of 6 full-time software engineers based in the UK, and additional contrators internationally. My day-to-day activities require close collaboration with product managers and directors across multiple work streams. I support numerous cross-functional needs to ensure timely delivery of Content Protection and Brand Protection services for industry-leading film and TV clients, many popular commercial brands, and much more. Loosely speaking, my mission is to act as a force-multiplier for engineers to improve client retention and stable growth of an already-thriving business.I support staff through dedicated planning sessions, mentoring, pair programming, research allowances, lecturing, code review, IDE and software configuration support, CI/CD instrumentation, and much more. I leverage my skills to realise significant cost savings for the business, which allows for further sustainble growth. I allocate KPIs aimed at bridging the gap between business needs and personal development goals, for the betterment of all.My extensive software experience is utilised to provide robust software solutions. On any given day, I could be writing Python, Go, TypeScript, and much more. I am constantly monitoring, analysing, and optimising ClickHouse, Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB databases. My expertise with CI/CD pipelines, Linux server administration, cloud services (GCP + AWS), and APM and tracing all enable me to effectively instrument and maintain infrastructure worldwide.My experience with data warehousing, ETL, and BI dashboard design is utilised to measure and illustrate software and employee performance. I follow a data-first approach to software design and implementation, and ensure engineers hold a personal stake in deliverly and ongoing maintenance of projects. As a result, the business is able to make more effective decisions driven by real world data.

As President of Dense Analysis I am responsible for overseeing the organisation's FOSS projects, its public education initiatives, and promoting its public image. I utilise over a decade of software industry experience, in addition to experience in marketing, public speaking and performance, authorship, and much more.As Treasurer, I oversee the organisation's finances and tax obligations, and in particular compliance with regulations regarding non-tax status. I clear red tape to better enable engineers to do what they do best, all in the name of charity.

At Hokodo I worked directly under the CTO to build financial products for SMEs. I employed my deep industry knowledge of Python and Django, Postgres database architecture, Linux server and AWS cloud services architecture, and my extensive experience to make financing and insurance more readily available.

As a Senior Web Engineer at Wazoku I further developed and maintained Wazoku's flagship product, which I have played an essential role in building for the better part of a decade. My role included oversight of developer on-boarding in the company, including one-to-one education of new starters.My work included scaling the large project to ever-larger user bases, code review, educating other developers, maintenance of continuous integration tools and processes, and heavy involvement in planning the future of innovation management. I oversaw data migration, performance improvements, and feature enhancements to deliver critical functionality for important clients including HSBC.Specific areas of expertise included TypeScript, Angular, modern Python including type checking, Django, Postgres, etc.

Responding to a promising offer, I briefly worked as a Senior Software Engineer for Deliveroo. My work at Deliveroo involved the use of The Go Programming Language and Ruby, and various other common web technologies, such AWS, git, SQL databases, etc. After a brief period working for Deliveroo, I decided the job was not the right fit for me, and I returned to working for Wazoku.

Adding on to my previous role as a Development Team Leader, I started to officially dedicate some of my time every month to improve continuous integration at Wazoku. The work involved such tasks as optimising test suites, tweaking Jenkins CI builds to run more smoothly, improving on linting and static analysis the Wazoku codebase, improving how performance is measured across sprints, and generally any task that might not normally be given the top priority, but ensured that Wazoku could and would continue to deliver its work in a timely fashion.I went out of my way to ensure that I exited Wazoku in such a good state that I would have been surprised if things had not gone smoothly after I left. A large part of my role was educating the rest of the team on state of the art developments in web technologies, such as type checking in Python, new Angular idioms, working tricks I had used to optimise Postgres, and ways to refactor the large Wazoku codebase for future developers to try, to better meet client demands.

As a Development Team Leader, I was responsible for managing a small team of developers and planning development of Wazoku's flagship web application together with product managers, senior IT employees, and other members of staff. My day-to-day work typically involved code review, assigning tasks to the developers I managed, providing technical advice and training, designing software architecture, and copius amounts of programming. As part of ongoing development work, I was very active in setting out short, medium, and long term plans for keeping Wazoku's software up-to-date and in line with modern developments and best practices, including adoption of new technologies and addressing technical debt. I played a sigificant role in upgrading Wazoku's Node.js front end build to render the web application in Angular in addition to AngularJS.

As a Senior Developer at Wazoku, I was responsible for development and maintenance of the company's flagship web application. I continued to develop new features and maintain test suites for ensuring software quality. I was responsible for training and advising members of staff, alongside collaborative efforts to build Wazoku's product. I worked with other developers and managers to help improve the company's software tools and processes to better facilitate continued development. The role included significant contributions to front end build tools leveraging the Node.js ecosystem, including the initial conversion of the front end codebase to TypeScript.

As a Developer at Wazoku, I was tasked with developing the back end and front end components of a web application software product for businesses. I developed new features and fixed bugs, as organised in sprints, and worked on development tools with other developers. I was instrumental in maintaining code quality through code review, introduction of linting tools, performance optimisations, and development of test suites.

My responsibilities at PerformanceIN included Django web development, Linux web server administration, office network administration, running event badge printing equipment, and a small amount of intra-office IT support. I learned valuable SEO and design skills on the job which stick with me to the present day.

At Antivia I wrote what was at the time the large majority of the JavaScript rendering code for a multi-platform business intelligence dashboard application. I worked with a team of developers on the Java SWT dashboard designer application. I developed iOS, Android, and web applications for displaying the BI dashboards on many devices. I used my PHP skills to maintain a small software download website for obtaining our software.

I worked for a year at Wren Kitchens for a work placement which was part of my university education as a paid junior developer. At Wren Kitchens, I got my first taste of web development in the real world as a PHP web developer, where I was given gradually more involving tasks to complete for the company. Through working at the company, I was able to learn various facets of web development, and refine my skills as a software developer so that I could learn to work as a professional.
