As a Senior Software Engineer at Jumio, I was responsible for improving the design and performance of the company's anti money-laundering systems that help customers fight financial crime. As a Software Engineer at MassMutual, I worked on the Enterprise Data Analytics Platform (EDAP) which is designed to extract insights that our customers depend upon. My responsibilities included designing and implementing cloud scale distributed data-focused analytics platforms, services, and frameworks. I wrote code and unit tests, worked on API specifications, and conducted code reviews and testing to ensure high quality and performance. I also collaborated with other organizations such as business analysts, data modelers, QA, and SRE to prevent and resolve technical issues and provide technical guidance.I contributed to a variety of projects, including Elysium, Shredder, Pterodactyl, and VoltageSpark. For Elysium, I led a team in the design and development of a schema change management solution for datasets and built a REST-API with an AWS RDS backend to persist dataset-schema iterations. For Shredder, I created a configurable Spark-based JSON processor that ran on AWS EMR and partnered with stakeholders to develop and deploy critical Jenkins pipelines to production. In Pterodactyl, I wrote an extensible framework that permitted no-code Vertica-SQL executions and reduced job complexity by transitioning hard-coded SQL to templated pterodactyl pipelines. For VoltageSpark, I created a configuration-driven Spark-based Java application for format-preserving encryption and collaborated with stakeholders to design and implement data protection strategies.Overall, my work at MassMutual involved building and optimizing distributed systems, designing and implementing cloud scale distributed data-focused analytics platforms, and collaborating with various teams to ensure high-quality and reliable solutions for our customers.

During my time at Insight, I developed a machine learning preprocessing pipeline called kaleidoscope which increased the number of images in a dataset by randomly chaining together OpenCV transformations. I also deployed a Redis work queue in a Kubernetes cluster on AWS EC2 to take advantage of parallel processing. Insight is a seven week professional training fellowship that helps software engineers and academic programmers gain experience with industry-specific tools in the field of data engineering at leading companies.
