I have twenty-four years of IT experience and about thirty years of experience writing. My current position requires me to balance several different roles and responsibilities: systems analyst, business analyst, c# developer, project manager, and the occasional team psychologist. That last one is just in my free time, though. My experiences over the years have been rather varied: I've built, configured, and imaged computers; I've been a network admin and attained various Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE); I've implemented business intelligence software, created and maintained ETL jobs, worked as a junior DBA (MS SQL 2008 onward); I've developed applications, APIs, and web apps in c#, VB, PHP, Python, and Javascript; I've worked with virtualized servers (XenServer and VMWare); I can configure IIS to do my bidding (and Apache and Nginx with a bit of googling and cursing); I have a 42U server rack in my garage and a moderate understanding of administration of a few Linux distros (Ubuntu Server and Fedora more than anything); I've burned the midnight oil more than a few times, performed (and continue to do so) the tasks of a project manager, written loads of documentation, assessed overall system needs, implemented large and complicated systems, diagnosed horrifying exception errors at two o'clock in the morning, and generally enjoyed every second of it.
