I have worked within the turnaround and insolvency industry for over 18 years. This has provided experience of working with owners managers and helping them deal with their financial difficulties as well as working alongside other stakeholders including accountants, solicitors, creditors, asset based lenders, banks and venture capitalist firms.Insolvency & turnaroundI have always enjoyed working with SMEs and their owners and I approach any clients with the view that I treat them as I would expect to be treated by providing the best professional advice in an understandable and empathetic manner. I consider all options whether that be through re-financing, informal arrangements, negotiations with creditors, business sales or insolvency. Every client needs a different approach depending upon their size, sector and other factors and this is reviewed in detail before any strategy is put in place. Insolvency is not always the solution and my priority is to find the right route for each client.My experience also includes dealing with large assignments including high profile businesses with national coverage such as the Working Links group in 2019, a subcontractor of the public sector which had significant contracts with various government agencies.Asset based lendersI am regularly instructed to advise and assist on assignments by lenders. This instruction can be to assist an existing client with a review of their financial position and to negotiate with their creditors with a view to turning around the business and avoiding an insolvency process.Alternatively, where there is concern over director conduct and misappropriation of assets I will be introduced to investigate the affairs of a company. I have extensive experience in contentious insolvency assignments and related investigation work with a view to recovering funds for stakeholders.Creditor services & investigationsCreditors and their representatives will approach me to assist whether they have concerns regarding a director, their advisors or an existing office-holder. More commonly, the request will be to replace the Official Receiver in Court Winding-Ups and bankruptcies to ensure a thorough investigation is undertaken and all routes of potential recoveries can be explored.Other servicesMy experience also includes dealing with solvent liquidations and fixed charge receiver work on property related matters.
