I have worked at my family leather tannery, J Hewit & Sons Ltd, since 2015. I am part of the seventh generation of my family to work at the company, which we are proud to say is one of the oldest family businesses in Scotland.As a director my job encompasses all roles at the company: I produce leather in the factory, deal with orders in the warehouse, manage company admin, and, as the youngest member of staff, act as tech support. I don't believe that managers should delegate tasks that they themselves wouldn't be willing to do, so now and again I can be found with a mop in my hand on the factory floor!I graduated with first class honours in chemistry from the University of the West of Scotland in 2021, have completed IOSH Managing Safely, and am a qualified First Aider.
