    Conducted basic research on food allergens at the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) to support the enforcement of labeling food products as required under the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA). The research also supported the implementation and enforcement of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), while promoting FDA's critical mission of consumer safety. Projects:1) Developing more sensitive methods for the detection of allergens and gluten in food products.2) Studying ways to prevent unwanted food allergens and gluten from entering the food manufacturing process and its end products. 3) Surveillance of undeclared allergens in food products from retail establishments. Activities: Served as co-chair of the Linking the Microbiome to Health, Safety, and Regulation Symposium committee (2015). Served on CFSAN’s Microbiome committee, as well as Allergen and Gluten working group.
