In healthcare we sometimes get distracted by the complexity of our mandate. We rediscover our love and care for other humans and forget that we have to stay financially solvent. Or we forget to care for the patient in trying to achieve business goals. Sometimes this feels like management pushing productivity and front line staff feeling like they're "pushing back" in trying to care for patients. But we do truly all have the same goal--and that is to keep providing excellent care going forward into the future. What I bring to this goal is a unique knack for bringing these things together. My empathetic nature helps me to understand the deeper needs of staff and patients alike, which are sometimes hidden beneath the surface. My analytical nature helps me to understand the systems and tools available to us, and to use and reimagine those tools to improve efficiency and productivity without increasing workload, and to improve quality of care without increasing cost.I take joy in helping make others' work easier and more effective. By seeing through the distractions, I find the heart of a process, or a relationship, or a problem, and help to make the rough places smooth. Continuous improvement in healthcare is found not in pushing harder, but in crafting the smoothest and easiest process that allows us to give our patients the care and attention they need to heal.
