Andy Berglund served as lead Major League Baseball European and African Academies Consultant (Italy, Holland, Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Sweden, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Israel, Austria and South Africa), providing on-the-ground assistance to the player academies supported by MLB in Europe and Africa. He served also MLB’s field coordinator for the African Elite Academy, organizing day-to-day logistics and selection processes of players from Africa and South Africa. Throughout his European and African academy visits, he’s in charge of assisting local coaches in developing and implementing a complete player training program in line with MLB guidelines and assisting the coordination & running of the major player development events in the region, including the MLB European Academy, the MLB Academies Tournament & the European Players Showcase. He was head coach and selection manager for MLB Europe, a select U18 European All-Star team that competed in showcases around the world.
