About Andrew Ricks

Andrew Ricks is a second-year student at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He is currently serving as the Treasurer Student Bar Association, a Staff Editor on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Competition Honor Society, and a Student Ambassador for the Office of Admissions. Before attending law school, Andrew served as the Chief Strategy Officer for Blue River Land, LLC., a homegrown rural real estate company that operated out of Houston, Texas, and Talihina, Oklahoma. In this position, Andrew played a pivotal role in day to day operations. Andrew oversaw the purchase of hundreds of acres of land, that were then sold in smaller tracts to the public. Additionally, Andrew oversaw the purchase and renovation of 3 brick and mortar stores for the company to operate out of. Andrew also taught Eighth Grade English in Houston, Texas. While teaching, Andrew focused heavily on creating a safe space for students of minority backgrounds, especially members of the LGBTQ+ community. He also presented materials on how to become a more equitable educator. During his tenure, Andrew was recognized by school administration as the youngest teacher in KatyISD and during his first year, Andrew was nominated for the "New Teacher of the Year" Award - an award that recognizes excellence in first year teachers.Andrew is a strong administrative professional with a Bachelor of Science - BS in General Studies from University of Central Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Science - BS in Psychology from the University of Houston.
